Q:know of any good places to read about current AI research? I'm still in the early phases of my computer science studies but AI is something that becoming more and more of an interest of mine in the last few years.

I do not know of any specific good AI research to read, however you can google AI and there are plenty of sites to whet your appetite.  I am sorry I cannot be any more help!
